How many people you know have a pre-K child in their house. My daughter Bekah is the light of my life. She is adorable, funny, and so smart. She is also 4. Along with that comes so my new things. My son Gabe was a very calm child. Don't get me wrong, he was busy. He liked to be doing something almost every minute. BUT...he could content himself for more than a nano-second. I can remember cleaning the living room one day while he sat inside his toy box quietly playing with his toys. Yes, folks he kept them IN the toy box. Now Bekah, she is a different story. She is not content playing by herself. If I am cleaning she wants to be helping. I love that and am afraid of it at the same time. Her favorite thing to do is dust, but she also likes to put everything in her mouth. She always has. She once swallowed two pennies at one time.
We are currently sitting in the bathroom watching Bekah make a storm in the bathtub. My socks are getting wet.
Bekah has also decided that huge fits are the way to go. Unfortunately for me and fortunately for her it usually gets her what she wants. Not with me, but with her marshmallow father. He just can't stand to see her cry. I kind of don't blame him. But then I do. As I said earlier, she is a very smart girl. She knows who is going to give her what she wants. It is quite impressive. She throws herself on the floor, opens her mouth as wide as she can and starts this yelling and crying. Sometimes it even produces some tears. The duration of these fits is amazing. She can sometime hold out for 10 to 15 minutes.
As the parent of a four year old, I understand that God has a really big sense of humor.
Seriously, I adore my children. Each for their own individuality. Each for the own personality. Gabe and Bekah are very different. Not just in age, but in personality, humor, charm, habits, quirks. Gabe is the rule follower. Bekah sees a line that should not be crossed. Looks at it then you and steps right over the line. Gabe worries about everything. Bekah puts herself right out in the open more often than not. Gabe embarrases easily. Bekah will do things to embarrass him.
When I decided to start writing this blog, I only wrote one time and then didn't again for almost a year. Now I have taken it back up and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I am having a good time writing about my life. It is also helping me to relieve some stress. Sometimes talking to the people in your life isn't easy. Especially if they are the source of your stress. And what 4 year old wants to hear this kind of thing? :)
